Join us for a day ride to Bill Jarvis Migratory Bird Sanctuary for 3 hours of environmental education and service. We will join with volunteers from the Lake View Citizens Council in stewardship activities such as litter pickup, trail mulching, invasive plant removal, and more.
We will meet at the Patagonia Chicago Mag Mile store (48 E Walton St) at 9am for coffee and a Patagonia product giveaway. Your RSVP to the event and a suggested donation of $5 (or more!) to support our friends at Out Our Front Door will enter you to win. Out Our Front Door is a Chicago non-profit that leads bike adventures to immerse and educate in local nature and history. We deepen folks' reverence for the native habitats of the Lake Michigan area by leading these trips for adults, youth, families and folks with disabilities. In addition, we care for our home and lead day rides to partner with local organizations in their habitat conservation service days. So join us for this Where the Wild Things Grow ride.
The Where The Wild Things Grow program helps engage the bicycle community's involvement in ecological restoration throughout the Chicagoland trail network system. The programs foundation is to support those organizations that already are doing the crucial work to help conserve and restore our native habitats
The volunteers of the Bill Jarvis Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Chicago's Lincoln Park are dedicated to maintaining, improving and creating a nature area on Chicago's lakefront. We hope to enhance this Sanctuary so that it can be home to many native species of plants and animals that would otherwise be missing from this urban environment. We also want to provide essential habitat for migrating birds to rest and feed in during their journeys. We look to diverse natural areas for our inspiration, and try to bring some of that diversity to this microcosm of nature in Chicago.
